The Rijeka Autism Center was founded in 1996 as a branch of Zagreb Autism Center. We started the first school year at the Turnić location with two educational groups that numbered 8 students. Today, the Center for Autism in Rijeka is located in Potok at Stane Vončine 1 street and has 30 students. In 2018, the Center for Autism Rijeka becomes an independent institution in which upbringing, education and rehabilitation of persons on the autism spectrum is carried out in accordance with Article 8. and Article 9. of the Ordinance on Elementary and Secondary School Education and Education
About us:
of Students with Developmental Disabilities, which implies schooling in classrooms departments and educational groups according to a special program with individualized procedures. The rehabilitation of adult users is based on training for life alongside work. Each educational and rehabilitation program with its contents, outcomes, methods and procedures is fully adapted to the peculiarities and needs of each individual student.
The education and rehabilitation of our participants is carried out by a team of 22 highly educated specialists with different
professional profiles, made up of educational rehabilitators, speech therapists, psychologists, pedagogues, kinesiologists, art and music therapists, IT teachers, religious teachers and medical staff. The Center for autism in Rijeka is equipped with modern didactic materials and sensorimotor devices, a sensory room, a relaxation room and a sensory park. In the future, we hope to become a support center for the education and rehabilitation of students from the autism spectrum integrated into regular educational systems.
